We have a blast at our monthly classes at Watermelon Red at Peregian. Such a great bunch of ladies and they are already producing some fabulous drawings. I can’t wait for next week when we’ll be bringing out the paints! Fun, fun!!!!
I’m excited to announce I’ve teamed up with Watermelon Red to bring you exciting monthly art workshops! Yahoo!!! The first one was held a few days ago and it was a huge success! Steff is the owner is joined by her right had girl, Stacey and together they are a gorgeous team! They’re so lovely to work with and they’ve created a beautiful atmosphere in their fabulous shop filled with mouth watering goodies from clothes to homewares. Lots of the products are locally made. Now, more about the workshop….. I’ll be teaching all the in’s and out’s and nitty gritty of portrait drawing. Values, scale, blending, facial features and much more will be included. We’ll use a reference photo and I’ll teach you how to truly ‘see’ your photo as we explore shadows and light. I know portraits can seem hard but I simplify the process as much as possible by breaking down the face using shapes and easy to understand concepts. The workshops are held monthly but that doesn’t mean you have to come each month.

I was honoured to recently have the opportunity to teach these lovely ladies for two weeks in a row. They have been studying a unit on mixed media and portraits so I had plenty to share. Here they are with their works in progress. They did a wonderful job and were a delight to teach.
I explained the many different medias I used on this piece called ‘Looking into forever’.
They had some interesting questions which were rather refreshing.

I don’t normally take photos of a group of my work like this. I find it really interesting to see them together though. I like how they have a consistent style. I normally feel like I change my styles so often that I don’t have much consistency. Glad I was able to keep to a similar style for my auction offerings.
