Beautiful Butterflies!

I was fortunate enough to go to the National Art Gallery of Australia on a trip to Melbourne in September last year. These butterflies were for sale in the shop. They’re made out of vintage saucers. They looked so beautiful all together on the wall that I just had to take a photo! I really wish I’d bought one now! Oh well, at least I have my painting and up coming E-Course

Magnificent Magnolia

Check out this huge, incredibly beautiful magnolia! This photo was taken in Melbourne at a florist where my super talented niece Kimberley just happens to be the Manager!
Once again nature pops in to inspire! One can only try to capture the beauty in one such as this stunning flower. Even the most talented artist in all the world can’t match the beauty of seeing it in the flesh. Speaking of beauty….don’t forget my online art course is coming up soon. I have had a wonderful time working on it today….getting excited and can’t wait to share it with you.

She didn’t think she could but then she realised she could do anything she wanted, so she did it!

This is one of my favourite paintings at the moment.

I have never given a painting such a long name before. While I was working on this painting I was thinking about where I could go with my art. I started to doubt myself but then I realised I could do whatever I wanted. So…..that is how I named this painting.

I was asked to run a workshop at a ladies retreat on the weekend. It was so much fun! What a pleasure it was teaching such beautiful ladies. Some of them had done very little art before and they were surprised with how much they enjoyed themselves. The more experienced were excited to learn some new techniques.
I only wish I had remembered to get a photo at the end with everyone holding their artwork. Oh well, at least I got these lovely shots.

OBSESSED WITH FACES!

Do you ever really look closely at people. I’m not trying to be creepy here. It’s just that I’ve been working on drawing and painting faces lately for and I have become fascinated with studying people’s faces. Try it yourself. When you are talking to someone next have a good look at them. Notice where the light and shade hits a face. It really is a helpful exercise and one that will serve you well as you endeavour to create soulful faces. Below is a pencil portrait I did of my lovely daughter for your enjoyment.Jacinda 75dpi
