Sunshine Coast Show Art Competiton

Sunshine Coast Art Show 2016

Happy to win a 2nd prize for ‘Courage’ in the art show in June.

The theme for the section was ‘Australian outback’.

I chose to paint this aboriginal boy backed by a classic outback sunset. He has a look of courage and determination on his adorable little face.

To get a better look at this painting go to my Portraits section in the menu bar above.

Brisbane Art Prize Finalist!!!

So excited to be chosen from hundreds of entries from all over the world!

The theme for the competition is ‘The meaning of life’. My painting shown here is titled ‘Let your light shine’.

I’m heading down to the awards night on Thursday with some of my friends and family. It’s going to be an awesome night with some fantastic entertainment and of course lots of wonderful art. #brisartprize2016

‘Nessy’

'Nessy'

‘Nessy’

Mixed media on paper. Sold.

Isnt she lovely! Her name is Vanessa but her friends and family call her Nessy. She has an identical twin sister called Melissa whose nickname is Lissy.

I really enjoyed doing this painting. I’m happy that I managed to capture her beautiful serene expression. What a lovely nature she has. She spends a lot of time looking after ill treated and malnourished horses, nurturing them to radiant health.

I have been painting a lot of faces lately!
I’ve got a bit of catching up to do on this blog!
Sharing this one I did last year to get things started.
She has been sold but I have plenty more coming.

Sunshine Coast Show Art Competition

20150610_201422~2Woo hoo,  I won a 1st prize for ‘The owl and the pussycat’ in our local show. I looked at the other entries and didn’t think I had a chance of winning.  Thankfully the judges thought differently.  Feeling very grateful.

20150610_200635Clive Palmer presented me with a highly commended award for my mixed media giraffe. Yay!

Yay for Clay!

20141213_143540I’ve had a great time making giant beads this week with polymer clay. It’s quite time consuming working the clay for beads this large but so worth it as I love the results. Can’t wait to try some different colour combinations…..but not till my hands have had a rest.

STAND BY ME

Work in progress. Did this a couple of weeks ago. Still have a few finishing touches to make but I must say I am rather liking it. Most of my paintings go through many different stages but this one came together very quickly. Now, lets see if I can do that again! Hmmm.(Deer (purplepink)

Come on a journey with me

I am in love with texture and colour. I find inspiration in the strangest things….a piece of lace, a rusty bottle top, keys, an old tape measure….you never know what will turn up on my art work….that’s what makes it exciting for me! As far as colour is concerned it is not uncommon for me to completely change the colour scheme of an almost finished painting if it doesn’t feel right to me.
