Inject your art with some serious colour! It can be a bit daunting working with lots of colour if you’re not used to it. How do you know what colors to put where, and how do you avoid creating muddy colours?
In this fun course I show you in-depth, step by step (HD video footage) how I created this beautiful, expressive, colourful portrait. I share all my colour recipes with you, you’ll get to see my palette as I’m working and will see which colours I’m dipping my brush into. Lots of tips and tricks are included so you too can create gorgeous mulit-coloured portraits….without the mud!
A variety of exciting exercises and studies are also included! (more information below).
Besides all this I am also giving you BONUS videos!
This workshop is suitable for all levels. Beginners will learn skills to take their art to the next level. Advanced artists may gain inspiration and learn new techniques.
The main lesson is a larger than life size portrait which I created mainly with quite large brushes. However if you don’t want to work as large as me then that is totally fine although I highly recommend giving it a go. You can still do the class just the same – your portrait will just be smaller that’s all. I absolutely love working large as it gives more scope to be expressive and it’s a great way to loosen up. It also makes it easier as it is not fiddly trying to get into small places and details. I especially enjoy working on the eyes when working large. You can really get some beautiful effects without even needing to use a tiny brush.
It’s going to be sooo much fun!
THIS WORKSHOP CONTAINS 3 PARTS

STRUCTURE OF THE MAIN LESSON:
Lesson 1 – Priming your substrate.
Priming is an important step in your painting. I’ll discuss the ‘how’s’ and ‘whys’ of priming your substrate before painting.
Lesson 2 – Mapping face
In addition to the video where I map out the face for this piece, I also demonstrate a couple of other quick and easy ways to map out the face.
Lesson 3 – Background.
Learn my no fuss techniques to create a quick and simple, effective background.
Lesson 4 – Mixing the palette.
I’ll show you how I mix my palette and exactly what colours I use. My palette will be visible throughout all the videos so you can see exactly what colours I’m using every step of the way.
Lesson 5 – Adding first layers of paint.
Looking at values we add the first layers to the face. This is also where we make sure all the features are placed where they should be and the structure of the face comes together.
Lesson 6 – Developing the facial features (eyes, nose, mouth).
Once we have our features properly placed we can develop them further. I’ll demonstrate all the little tricks I use to produce beautiful features which almost look 3d.
Lesson 7 – Hair and final touches to face.
I show you a really simple, slightly abstract way to add hair without any fuss. Make your portrait pop with the final strokes.

TESTIMONIALS
I have been privileged to have had two art lessons by Donna Munro and absolutely LOVE her teaching style. She is kind and encouraging, and I have grown as an artist by following her lessons. Both artworks created for those specific lessons have sold, and have led to custom made art as well. She’s genuine and she teaches from her heart, and her students can certainly feel safe to explore and enjoy mixed media under her guidance. I can’t wait to learn from her again! Lucy Cooke
Donna is a beautiful teacher. Her instructions are clear and concise. I never felt lost or overwhelmed while following her tutorial. And, of course, her work is simply stunning! If you want to learn how to paint expressively (or tweak your already established craft), Donna is the teacher you’re looking for. Andrea Fechner
